Who We Are

What is a "Quality Tonne"

A reduction in a tonne of carbon dioxide emissions that provides additional social and environmental benefits, such as the major rehabilitation of the natural gas pipeline in Georgia which will ensure vital heat is provided to thousands of people each winter. To the extent possible, QT looks for projects that provide extra sustainable development benefits. These are "Quality Tonnes."

QT has taken this notion of social and environmental benefit to even greater heights through its CDM work in Africa. Generally by-passed by the traditional CDM investors, Africa has had very few CDM projects compared to Asia and Latin America. QT is making every effort to include Africa in this growing emissions trading market. QT submitted the first methodologies from projects in Sub-Saharan Africa (not including South Africa), including projects in Ghana and Nigeria. QT has developed over 20 viable CDM projects many in conjunction with the World Bank Carbon Finance Team.
