The project consists of reducing the diesel consumption from approximately 800 buses from the City of Rosario. The project activity will use a new, recently-patented technology in Argentina which improves the combustion efficiency of diesel fuel in buses. The result will be an improvement in the number of kilometres that a bus can travel on a liter of diesel, thus reducing GHG emissions associated with the combustion of diesel fuel.
This project will contribute to the sustainable development of Argentina because fuel resources will be utilized more efficiently, thus preserving resources that are for the most part imported, while also reducing vehicular pollution. Buses are major sources of air pollution (SOx, NOx), as well as CO2. Thus reducing the amount of fuel required to make the buses operate will reduce pollution and improve local health conditions.
